After inserting the frame into the fabric kit, you need to sew it closed.  The original frame is very thin and there is ample material to allow sewing.  If you fabricate a frame, it is REALLY tight, but can be sewed shut.  After sewing, cover the ends and threads with weatherstrip sealer/adhesive.  I used the same sealer I use for windows into rubber channels.
